January 2026 CHCC Update

A busy summer for our Junior Rep Players!

This season CHCC is proud that a record seven players from the club played representative tournament cricket. Four were selected for ECA teams in the Victorian Metropolitan Cricket Union (VMCU) Carnival; Arie Hill (U12) Alex Hardwick-Young (U13), Charlie Kitt and Morgan Hodgetts (U17). In addition, Henry Macmorran and Lucian Bickford played in the U15 Craig Shield, and Auley Brown played in the U16 Dowling Shield.

Morgan had a great tournament with the ball in the Mel Jones Shield taking six wickets @ 17.33, guiding ECA to a home semi-final. She set up a big win dismissing RDCA’s number 1 & 3 in consecutive overs in her second match. On the Boys side, the ECA team had a tough tournament in the Jim Beitzel Shield, but Charlie kept his head down and scored an undefeated 22* against DDCA, backing that up in the second innings with two wickets.

In the U13 Des Nolan Cup Alex started off his tournament with a strong opening spell taking two wickets, and was part of helping ECA to their only VMCU flag of 2026 - congratulations Alex! Arie had a solid all-round tournament in the Arnold Shield, taking 3-3 against ISEC and scoring 28 against Box Hill, but unfortunately the ECA side just missed out on the finals on quotient.

Henry had a great Craig Shield for Ivanhoe, with a top score of 47, keeping Ivanhoe in the fight for finals until the very last match. Lucian had a very strong tournament for Malvern, taking a massive nine wickets @14.89 including an astounding 4-1 off five overs against Elsternwick. Auley’s Carlton side also came agonizingly close to the finals, but just missed out due to quotient. He made solid contributions with bat and ball, including a well struck 33 against Frankston Peninsula.

Congratulations to all our players on the recognition of their hard work and development!

Senior Updates

Senior Women

The senior women are still comfortably in third with 6 wins for the season. 18th January we went up against Nunawading, we batted first and put up a total of 226, our highest score this season. Mainly due to a huge partnership between Chloe and Morgan. Both scoring 50s and for Morgan it was her first 50 for her cricketing career. A massive achievement. It was hot and hard going in the field and it went down to the last over thanks to some great overs from Liv, Alex and Mum to keep them at bay for the win.

This week will see us playing an away game against Richmond City.

Senior Men

It’s a mix different positions on the ladder for the five senior men’s teams with 3-5 games to go in the season. The 1s lead from the front!

  • The 1st XI remain on top of the ladder

  • The 2nd XI are 5th

  • The 3rd XI are 8th

  • The 4th XI are 7th

  • The 5th XI are 7th
